Modifying list of departments


You can modify your list of departments by clicking "Departments" in the left pane menu or from the main menu.

To add a new department, simply click "ADD NEW Department" at the top. Then type in a name for the department and click "Submit".

Once a new department is added, there are more details that can be changed. To edit details about an existing department, click the pencil icon to the right of the department name, or click the department name itself.

In the bottom pane, you will be able to do the following:

Name You can change the name of the department.

Color Click on the palette icon and your choices of colors will pop up. The color you choose will show up as the background color on any shifts or time blocks assigned to this department in the current or recurring schedule, when you choose the coloring scheme "By departments". You can create a coloring pattern that makes sense to you, and that makes viewing the schedule easier.

Sort The value here will determine the sort order for the departments. The departments are sorted alphabetically by this value, so if you use numbers, be sure to use leading zeros (EX: 001, not 1)

Max # employees in this department allowed off simultaneously
This applies only if you are using Time Off features.
This will set a soft limit on the number of employees that can be scheduled for time off on the same day, who are all qualified for this department. You can always override this, but you will be warned upon approving time off.
