| Overriding an employees recurring (normal) availability | |

First, go to the current availability section from the main menu or the left pane.
You will see something that looks like this: (similar to the current schedule and recurring schedule)

Next, choose the employee from the employee selector in the top pane

Then you will see something like this:

Then choose the week you want to override for this employee (ie., to declare a different availability pattern than the recurring one) You can use the "Week" selector in the top pane, or use the Week forward and backward navigator button at the top of the bottom pane.

The employee's availability is defaulted to his or her usual week (as kept in the recurring availability).
Then click the choice to "Override this employee's normal availability this week below." and wait for the page to refresh.

Now you can make changes to this week's availability for the employee. You can add, remove, or change time blocks to adjust the availability for this week as needed.
You can add time blocks, indicating (in this example) that the employee is unavailable for certain times. (Depending on how you set up your company in the Setup Wizard, you may want to do the reverse, that is, to add time blocks indicating the times your employee IS available. See Rules.)
You can add the time blocks to the entire week at once (OPTION 1) or choose a day to add time blocks to (OPTION 2).
OPTION 1: You can add a time block for several days within the current week at once, by choosing Edit | Add | Time Blocks from the top drop down menu.
Then you will see something like this:

 | The box labeled with "Add these new time blocks to..." will be automatically checked when you change anything inside the light green shaded area. If you change your mind and decide not to add these shifts, you may uncheck the box and it will be ignored.
|
 | Normally, you will leave the chosen employee as is, since it defaults to the employee you just chose in a previous step.
|
 | Enter the start time and the end time for the period of time you want to delcare either available or unavailable. Examples of acceptable time entries are "7p", "5:30am", and "4:23p". Minutes are not necessary when indicating a time that is on the hour. The "am" or "pm" can be abbreviated with an "a" or a "p". Military time is not yet accepted.
End times MAY NOT extend past midnight and into the next day. All availability time blocks must end on the same day they start. An availability time block can be up to exactly 24 hours long from start to end.
|
 | Choose whether will be AVAILABLE or UNAVAILABLE. If you are set up for employee preferences, you can also declare the time block, PREFERRED or ONLY IF NEEDED, both of which will be considered available. However, when auto-scheduling, the auto-scheduler will choose to schedule an employee who has preferred to work, over one who has preferred NOT to work. |
 | Place a check mark next to the word "Add", for each day that you want to add the time block to.
|
 | You can continue down the page to add more time blocks, or you can click the submit button to submit your changes. If you change your mind, you can click the cancel button to discard all changes on the page. Click any submit button when you are done, to add the time blocks on the page.
|
OPTION 2 You can add a time block or many time blocks to a particular day. To do this, decide which day you want to add the time blocks to, and then click at the top of the column for that day, "Add to day". If you are in the current availability section, you will choose a specific date. If you are in the recurring availability section, you will choose a day of the week.
Then you will see something like this:

 | The box labeled with "Add this new time block to..." will be automatically checked when you change anything inside the light green shaded area. If you change your mind and decide not to add this shift, you may uncheck the box and it will be ignored.
