Selecting time blocks

Selecting time blocks allows to you indicate which time blocks you want to remove, change, copy, move, or assign to an employee. Selecting time blocks is always the first step in a two step process to perform some operation on a group of shifts together.

Time blocks can be selected any of the following ways:

One time block at a time, individually.

One day at a time.

One week at a time.

ONE TIME BLOCK AT A TIME

To select individual time blocks, place a check mark in the box next to the word "Select" in each time block you want to select.

If you want any previous selection to be cleared out first, so you start with a fresh new selection, place a check mark in the box next to "Clear selection first." Then click the "Select checked blocks / Submit" button at the bottom of page. When the page refreshes, you will see that the time blocks you just selected now have a dark blue / purple background color. This means that they are selected.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

To select all the time blocks in a day, look to the top of the day column you want to select...

Then click either "Select day" or "Clr&Select day".

"Select day" will select all the time blocks in that day in addition to any time blocks already selected. In this way, you can accumulate your selected shifts to get the desired result.

"Clr&Select day" will first clear out any existing selection, if there is one, and then select all the time blocks in that day. In this way, you can be assured that you will have nothing else selected except the one day.

Then you will see something that looks like this:

In the above example, the manager clicked "Select day" at the top of the Tuesday, Nov 19 day column.

When the page refreshes, you will see that the time blocks you just selected now have a dark blue / purple background color. This means that they are selected.

ONE WEEK AT A TIME

To select all the time blocks in the current week, go to the top drop down menu in the top pane, and choose Select | Select this week.

Then you will see that all the time blocks in the entire week are selected as illustrated below...

AFTER SELECTING

After selecting the time blocks note that at the top of each day column, you will see two new additional options, "Copy", and "Move."

If you want to copy your selected time blocks, click "Copy" at the top of the day column you want to copy the selected time blocks to. (If you have more than one day of time blocks selected, choose the first day you want the selected time blocks copied to.) The selected time blocks will still remain where they are, and new time blocks will be created on the day you chose.

If you want to move your selected time blocks, click "Move" at the top of the day column you want to move the selected time blocks to. (If you have more than one day of time blocks selected, choose the first day you want the selected time blocks copied to.) The selected time blocks will move to the day you chose. No additional time blocks will be created.

Other operations you can perform on a group of selected time blocks:

Change certain details on all the selected time blocks.

Remove the selected time blocks.
