There are several common issues that can occur depending on the settings in your browser and other factors that can cause Work Schedule Dot Net not to work properly. In most cases, it's just a matter of changing a setting in your browser, or downloading a free update. If your problem can not be resolved by trying the fixes described here, please contact technical support at support@workschedule.net, or call during business hours 866-846-3123.
COMMON PROBLEMS
Only the left menu shows. The right side of web page is blank.
(1) The most common cause of this is using a browser other than Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 for Windows when logged on as a manager. To correct the problem, simply download the latest version of Internet Explorer from Microsoft here.
(2) Make sure "Active scripting" is enabled in Internet Explorer (it is enabled by default in Internet Explorer, but could have been changed.) To get there go to the very top menu of Internet Explorer. Click on Tools | Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Click on the Internet icon (picture of the earth). Click on Custom Level. Scroll down to the Scripting area. Make sure both Active scripting, and Scripting of Java applets are ENABLED.
Pages are taking forever to load
(1) Don't assume the page is still loading because the progress bar below in Internet Explorer is still moving. Very often the progress bar will continue moving indefinitely, long after the page has loaded. There is a known bug in Microsoft Internet Explorer (you can read about it on Microsoft's web site here) that causes the progress bar to be completely inaccurate under certain circumstances. Sometimes users think that the page is still loading because there are no time blocks on the page, and the progress bar is still moving. When you first start using the system, there will not be any time blocks on the page until YOU add them, so please do not be confused into thinking the page is still loading.
Under normal circumstances, pages should load in about 0.5 to 1.5 seconds. That figure is for each pane of the page, since they load separately. If you have a large number of shifts on a page (approaching 1000) or alot of rules and you are in Show Conflicts mode, page loads may take longer -- generally from 5 to 25 seconds. If page loads are taking more than 30 seconds there is a good chance there is some other issue that technical support could help you with and you should email or call us (support@workschedule.net / 866-846-3123).
The top menu doesn't show, or hangs sometimes when I click on it.
Two things to look at:
(1) Download the latest version of Java from Sun Microsystems here. This has been known to fix the random hanging problem when the menu is clicked.
(2) Make sure "Java" is enabled in Internet Explorer (it is enabled by default in Internet Explorer, but could have been changed.) To get there go to the very top menu of Internet Explorer. Click on Tools | Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Click on the Internet icon (picture of the earth). Click on Custom Level. Scroll down to the Microsoft VM area. Set Java permissions to High Safety.
I get the following error message: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result the page may not display correctly."
